SNSD Fails to Amuse Anyone
Remember, my opinion.

Looks like SNSD is all the rage(again) with the release of their third mini-album “Hoot”, which to some ~Koreans~ is anything but a hoot.
Now before you stans start lashing out at me, let me give you a reason to do so and just say that I do think Hoot is the weakest promoted track(or title-track, w/e) that SNSD has pulled out since Gee(does anyone care about anything before that?). The only thing I like about anything Hoot related is the “shoot, shoot, shoot, hoot, hoot, hoot” bits. The concept(those wigs and clothes) is icky and any other part of the song is uninteresting and dragged.
Disagree? Is everything SNSD does flawless? Wanna call me a hypocrite and a hater? Do it in the comments~ ;D
So recently I stumbled upon a certain live from the girls at the “47th Daejong Film Awards”(some zzz Korean award show filled with old people). Let’s just say that it was beyond embarrassing and awkward.

Before I get started on the emotionless, shocked, dazzled and lifeless corpses that is the audience, let me first point out my most interesting observation. SNSD CAN’T SING LIVE TO SAVE THEIR LIVES.
Before I go on without you guys knowing what I’m going on about, here’s the video. Watch and laugh.
Since it is an award show and all(and not the typical music program), the stage(and mics, etc) weren’t modified to work with the girls, as is the case in any other scenario. Instead what we get is the ~real deal~; sloppy, weak vocals, murmuring and a lot of heavy breathing.
This is most noticeable during the opening “Oh!” bit. Since the mics are actually on(ufufu) and the background music(with original vocals intact, as is almost always the case to not have to hear the singers naked voice) isn’t as prominent as always, you hear even the girl’s boots squeaking.
I think they were better of lip-syncing(and they did, but apparently they can’t pull that off that well either). Not all of them were horrible though. Taeyeon was ok.

Nowhere near goddess Bom, ofc.
Now let’s take a look at the various faces and emotions of the 47th Daejong Film Awards audience~
What did you think of the audience’s reactions? Was it rude or was SNSD just too out of place?

To me, SNSD is just a group of 9 pretty faces, with only two of the members having vocal talent. No amount talent is not required for what they do, all they have to do is dance and look pretty. Which is the same way I feel about MM and AKB *cowers behind a rock* I felt the same way as the audience, SNSD was boring as hell and the performance looked sloppy.
This was such a bad performance, I don’t even. But I guess I shouldn’t be surprised since Girls’ Gen aren’t even good performers anyway.
The “IDGAF” lady is Cha Ye Ryun, and she’s quite a mediocre actress. But her face just had me laughing so hard so she’s a cool person now :D
I’ll just camp out here because I expect butthurt stans will show up quite soon. Btw, love your captions :D
Lol protect me from the stans prz. <3
I think that actually people probably just didn’t know the song… They just started promoting it… Also if you look back, 2PM performed there too and the reactions were pretty much the same. Same thing with Big bang & DBSK in the previous years…
I also think that actors like to keep their poker faces… Maybe as you said, some can’t even move theirs haha… Even if it was a new song, the chorus kinda stick with you so I was hoping someone would tilt their heads at least just a little..
Regarding the performance, I wasn’t really surprised… We all know that Taeyeon is pretty much the only “good” singer in SNSD but while listening to the song ( I wasn’t paying attention), 2 voices really made me tick… Sorry Hyoyeon & Yuri but you guys should really stick to dancing…
I like the song itself, but I agree–their live performances blow.
The audience obviously doesn’t like thigh-high boots that much. Well then, shame on them as it can hardly get any hotter than this.
Aside from this I really like that play on words in the title of your entry: ‘SNSD fails 2 amuse NE1′. It’s probably just a coincidence, but it’s nevertheless awesome.
LOL I didn’t even notice that! <3 This shall now be my secret 2NE1 fandom post.

I don’t like them. Like people say and which I agree, they are basically the slutty version of Morning Musume. ^^
I thought the audience’s reaction was ridiculously rude and cold. And although it wasn’t SNSD’s best performance, I think its going a too far to say that they don’t have talent or talent isn’t required to dance. It is hard, for ANY good singer to dance the way they do and still be able to sing as well as they could. They’re human, just like everyone else, and they’re breathing hard because its hard work to dance and sing at the same time! So before anyone passes judgment on their “lack of talent,” why don’t you try it and see if you can do it since, apparently, it doesn’t require any talent.
And if you actually see performances where they sing and show off their vocal skills, without having to dance all over the place, you can see just what good singers they are. (maybe not all of them, but most of them)
To be fair though, any good live performer with years of training in singing and dancing at the same time, like SNSD has, should be better than this. I can understand if they sounded like this after an hour of performing, but they should not be struggling with having enough air to put power and correct pitch behind their notes during the first song. There are probably lots of factors that led to this live being crap, the mics were clearly an issue, but their bodies should be accustomed to dancing while singing and there shouldn’t be this much of a difference anymore. People in musical theater do the same thing night after night and if they sounded like this they would be fired.
I like SNSD, but if they put on lives like this even after years of doing it, some of them clearly don’t have the talent to sing well live. They are talented in the studio, and that’s great, that’s why I like them, but they don’t have that extra level. You said that some of them can sing well live when they aren’t dancing, but isn’t being able to do both kind of the point of being in a group like SNSD?
Honestly…..I’m probably gonna regret this later but…..I can’t stand this song…… at all. It’s really annoying and I would probably be making the same face if I had to sit and listen to it. Now I do think that some of them can sing, (Taeyeon, Jessica, Seohyun and Tiffany) but even I know that if your gonna go on stage you should be giving it your all. It sounded like they were tired and out of breath. Their preformance wasn’t something to brag about, and don’t get me wrong, I consider myself a fan. Their beats are catchy, they can dance and sing decently, and they can be pretty entertaining. BUT I’m not gonna sit hear and praise them for a half assed preformance, when I’ve seen them do better this. They should be having good (or at least decent) preformances all the time, not just sometimes. This is their job….they get paid to do this. If their gonna do it, they should do it right. Honestly, I would have been like “wtf” if that was the reaction to a GOOD preformance, but it wasn’t good….so I think they deserved it….
…..Im gonna hide under a rock now….
Preach it!
I agree, the song’s only good part is the chorus. Everything else is kinda bland and forgettable, unlike their previous promo tracks.
OMFG how dare you insult my unnirs YOU MUST BE ANTI power of 9 forevar <3333
…lol jk. I like the girls but not this song.
I love your blog – everything is so refreshing. I'll probably regret this later on, but…what are your opinions on each of the girl groups trying to cross over rn? (SNSD, Kara, 4minute, 2ne1, and T-ara if you gaf) /runs away quickly
Refreshing… I like that~ ;D
As for the girl groups heading to Japan, I’m mostly against it. It’s cool that it’s going so successful for(most of) them, but it just reminds me of how poor Momusu sells these days. -o-
What I dislike the most is the lack of new material. However, 4minute and Kara both released new original Japanese music recently and I gotta admit that I’m in love with both FIRST and Jumping. <3
Excited for 2NE1 also. Well, I’ll love anything those girls release~
Thank you, Jin! ^^ I’m so upset with all these K-Pop girl groups in Japan. GET OUT! THINK OF MOMU!
Hahha! I love ur blog, never fails to amuse anyone :D great stuff man great stuff
Thanks!!! :D
_l_
Fuck these flops.
Anyway~ NICE BANNER, BB. Queen Kana. <3
LOL
And thanks bb~ Couldn’t resist her ~natural beauty~.
Most Korean girl groups seem to fail live every once in a while. The difference between Korean and Japanese groups is that (I’m not sure if I can speak for everyone here) you expect more of a voice when it comes to Korean idols. There’s so much more to Japanese idols that their voices aren’t always the most important thing. So that’s why I don’t want to see these girls live, haha. And well, that was definitely not the right place for them.
no wonder. snsd can perform 100% smoothly only when they’re lipsync. :P seohyun’s getting better now, her vocal and dance are all okay. her unnies should practice more.
anyway, lee min jung’s sooo pretty (the one with “me neither” caption). her smile is like “they’re good but i think i can do better” lol. and please move your crop a bit so we’ll see t.o.p’s face clearly~ xD
well to be honest i would make a face like that too not because i didnt enjoy it but i just always make emotionless face when i listen to music unless im really into it XD
