SHINee isn’t Trendy
SHINee is what all K-Pop fanatics are obsessing over these days. They were supposed to make their debut sometime soon(or already?) but it has been delayed since our dear Minho got into a little accident and injured himself. Smooth.
Meanwhile, teaser photos have been released for all members minus Key and I have to say that they are… absurd, to say the least.
Where do I start with this? I don’t understand why people are going so crazy over this. It annoys me that they find these sad excuses of photos made to “hype” the release(and I quote):
“SEXY, BEAUTIFUL!”
“They look so manly!”
“Whatever hairstyle they have, they always look amazing!”
Lol, yea right. I’ll put myself in their position. Let’s say Momusu did this “teaser” thing and released some really fugly photos. Hell, I’d be excited as heck for it, only because I am a huge fan of theirs, HOWEVER, I won’t go around stating how gorgeous they are and completely nauseating they are from an artistic point of view.
Then again, maybe it’s just me.
Let’s take this photo of Minho for example(I’ll even ignore the worst photo of them all, Onew’s horrific teaser]). As their last two releases, their management company is making SHINee seem “trendy”, “original”, “creative”, etc. with these over the top costumes, hairstyles and concepts.
I’m not against trying to be different, but I do disagree entirely with the direction taken in these shoots. More from a designer’s point of view than from an actual SHINee fan(I do like them a lot but what we’ve seen so far doesn’t make me any more excited for their return than I already was), the photos are confusing, most probably misleading to what the final product will be, disappointing and well UGLY.
Not even Jonghyun, my absolute favorite male in K-Pop, can make me appreciate these photographs. It’s nothing more than a combination of random, ugly clothes(make him seem like someone from a Final Fantasy game), an exposed back to appeal to the fangirls(and me) and a less than typical scene to add that extra ~we’re totally sure about this concept~ vibe.
Remember Juliette? SHINee did the same thing there doing now, but in another direction. It was colorful, fresh and strange(like these ones are) but with one BIG difference; they were pleasing to the eye.
The point of this post is that I do not for the life of me understand why everyone is going crazy over these fugly shots. I conclude that it’s because “SHINee is making a comeback” and not because “the photos are amazingly gorgeous!”
I do not like these photos but I’m still anxious for the song/MV. Better teaser pics would have made me more excited for the reveal, however.

These are… I would say “fug” but even that doesn’t describe them. Minho’s injury is unfortunate but crap like this always happens when an artist/group is about to do something major.
Hey come on guys, look on the bright side! At least we know that even when they look worse than those sparkly J.E boys in concert they still have loyal fans to keep them afloat. Besides, this concept (like all concepts in K-Pop) will only last for the one or two releases =P. They’ll move on soon enough.
You should of heard some of the comments on K Bites, Jin.
They were wondering whether this is Gay Pride Parade concept or a drag show. And also if the stylist was a gay pedophile. LOL
But we can’t judge the concept because come on, the photoshoots are usually exaggerated. Focus on the song, not the looks for this one.

SHINee??? Worst group name ever. If you say it in the Japanese way that doesn’t sound like “shiny”, it’s pretty much their equivalent of “Fuck off/die”.

And anyways, it sounds like such a girl-group name, in my opinion. When I first heard it I thought they were a girl group.
Shiny is just a girly word.
I think these photos look ridiculous. I know they’re trying to be artistic and look more “mature” but those photos don’t do that. I like shinee but damn!!! They don’t get any points for showing skin either; that’s just a cheap ploy.
