Morning Musume. – Seishun Collection

Ready for Shouganai Yume Oibito part 2? Well, Seishun Collection is here and it features that same violin+synth combo that Tsunku has been spamming with Momusu for the past year. Unlike it’s former cousins, it steps away from the “Emomusu” area and instead has an uplifting melody, with most of the vocals being sung in unison, thus strengthening that positive feeling. It’s not as impacting as SYO, but I must admit that Tsunku did a delicious job with the instrumental, even if it is more of the same.

Credit goes to Tsunku for changing things up in the b-side area with Tomo. It still sounds like b-side material, but isn’t that cheap, generic pop stuff we’re used to. He sort of went for a almost ballad-y, uplifting and fresh simple song with piano, strings and soft beats. I’ll admit that it isn’t amazing, but if you look at the simple instrumental that lacks any faults, the feeling of union from the vocals and ignore the less than spectacular solos, you’ll find an appreciative, soothing b-side. I especially enjoyed the “na-na-na”‘s at the end.

I admit that I wasn’t very hopeful of this single to begin with, but upon giving it more listens, I’ve come to appreciate it’s simpleness a lot more and is overall more well rounded than the previous singles. Refreshing, clean and simple~

  2. I haven’t listened to the single yet, but the covers are a definite upgrade from the past few MoMusu covers. Plus, I love blue and green together. :P

    Thank you for the review!

I wasn’t very happy with this single. I loved their previous one. It’s always the one after the other that I like nowadays e.g Onna ni Sachi Are, Resonant Blue, Naichau Kamo.

I can’t really like a consecutive amount of singles nowadays, haven’t been like that since 2007.
