Mano Erina – Onegai Dakara…

My girl Mano is back and she’s as fierce as ever! Following the release of the very Momosu like Haru no Arashi, Erina continues this style of synth-pop, upbeat music with Onegai Dakara…. Although it’s not as good as her first attempt at this genre, the song is still enjoyable and a nice addition to her discography. My only complaints are the less than interesting verses.

Hanakotoba reminds me of something… Oh right, Morning Musume.’s Loving you forever from their recent album. It’s practically the same cheap, mid-paced ballad with synthetic strings and only a decent chorus to back it up. As I’ve said before, Mano’s voice isn’t good enough(yet?) for songs such as these that focus too much on her vocals. The song is fresh and simple, but not made for Erina.

While the a-side shows some nice progress musically and vocally from Mano, that coupling track really brought down the quality of the single for me. It’s listenable, but very forgettable. I hope she continues these synth-pop songs.

I think her singing is getting a lot better, which is a positive sign :)

I thought she did a pretty good job with Hanakotoba. She just needs to soften up the voice a little more… it’s a little screechy at parts.

She totally improved. I hated her previous single but this one is different. The sound, the melody, even the dance and her facial expressions. It reminds me of Perfume. I think it would be a good idea for her to go this way.
