Berryz Kobo – Maji Bomber!!
The girls of Berryz FINALLY let go of the double a-side concept and release a single title track in the form of Maji Bomber!! Not failing to live up to their ~unique~ style, they took a rock direction this time with upbeat electric guitar rifts, fun verses and chants and a refreshing line distribution in being able to hear the “back row girls” get solos. While the typical four take the lead roles in this song, I was disappointed with 3/4 of theim; Yurina still talk-sings, Momoko sounds sick and Risako is as shouty as ever.
The b-side MOON POWER starts off like it could be something at least slightly interesting but as soon as the droopy vocals start off(and it isn’t Saki’s dead vocals fault), the song disappoints. This song is nothing more than an unfortunately generic, mid-tempo anime song without any redeeming features and horrible vocals.
Surprise surprise! Tsunku switched it up by including a remix this time. The Spark Version of Otakebi Boy WAO! is a kick-ass rock version of the original featuring a new arrangement with loud electric guitars, drums and fresh new vocals to accompany the new sound better. I think I prefer this to the original just because of how epic it sounds.
Berryz Kobo stays strong by adding a solid addition to their a-side collection and giving us an awesome treat in the form of that remix Tsunku cooked up for us. Too bad that painfully plain b-side had to ruin the single.
OVERALL RATING
Maji Bomber!! is Berryz Kobo’s 23rd single and it was released on July 14, 2010. It reached #6 on the Oricon Weekly Charts and has sold 19,206 copies.

Hm…I’m not too impressed with this single. I still think the best song they have done that’s REALLY gien me a great vibe of them is Dakishimete Dakishimete.
