℃-ute – Campus Life ~Umarete Kite Yokatta~

Hello!Projects flagship flop group is back with another mediocre single. Remember EVERYDAY Zekkouchou!!? Well, Campus Life ~Umarete Kite Yokatta~ is just about the same, but not as good. While the former had an “autumn” feel, the latter focuses on a peppier, spring atmosphere. Suzuki Airi isn’t a line hog this time around, fortunately, but this song is too generic for me to take it seriously.

Tsunku finally changed it up with Tachiagare Otome-tachi, the most bizarre b-side to come out of H!P in years. I guess it has an ethnic flavor to it mixed with very questionable vocals; those verses are a mess. Things get better with the chorus and the hook is the most memorable thing about the song. It’s worth a listen for how strange it is, but it’s nothing anything extraordinary.

℃-ute continues to disappoint me. I almost see no future for awesome releases from them in the future. I blame Kanna’s removal from the group. Another weak a-side to the collection. GET THINGS STRAIGHT GIRLS!
